Why is this book not a popular classic? Not that it will rock anyone's world, but it is a very charming little novel with great characters about how a small British village in the 1930s is changed by a book about said village. I loved the dialogue and the quiet humor and I appreciated that it works on several levels and is very 'meta'.
Miss Buncle's Book was very popular when it was first published in 1934, as were D.E. Stevensons other 40 or so books of which I had never heard. I really wish they were appreciated (and therefore published) a little more today.
