it was amazing

The characters in John Greene's "The Fault in Our Stars" are so well-drawn, it is difficult to think of them as fictional at all. Actually, it is the characters that drive the book, much more than the plot, which takes a secondary place (at least for me it did). The real story is the journey of these teenagers trying to win the "battle" (or the many battles) over cancer, it is the story of their thoughts about death, oblivion, the universe, love, time. Their coping, their fears and joys, their everyday worries and their facing death, both their own and others'.

I ended this book feeling sad, even angry at the universe (this universe that wants to be noticed...), but thoroughly satisfied.
