The author is a little *too* in love with Greek and Roman culture, and parts of the book are very redundant, but he presents a very solid case. After reading this book I am completely sold on the benefits of learning both Greek and Latin, and have a new understanding of how woefully ignorant I am about the classics. I loved the discussion of education as a formative, shaping experience rather than simply the attainment of practical skills. I will be compiling a list of many wonderful quotes that I can refer to when others ask me why I am insisting on a classical education for my children.
