Trolling Browsing through the free eBooks section is one of my favorite pastimes when I have a free hour. Usually, the small novellas are mediocre and brainless, something to detox me from any real thinking. Upon finding this fine porn story in my pursuit of asshattedness, I was pleasantly surprised.

What I Liked: Paige is actually, you know, sort of kind of badass which is not at all what I was expecting. The world of vampires and werewolves in this, though only barely fleshed out due to the short nature of the story, was well drawn and so far as I could tell sensical. Fight scenes were intriguing if centered too much in the character's heads. Drake is not a total asshole. The sex was actually, you know, sort of kind of hot which is not at all what I was expecting.

What I Didn't Like: The main (alive) villain was not in the least threatening since he was either a) off screen while doing evil deeds or b) doing dumb evil deeds on screen. [spoilers removed] The main (dead) villain was also not in the least threatening or sensical since... [spoilers removed] The story was too rushed.

The Cover: It gets it's own section because it's just so awful. Thank God you don't have to look at it for long.

All in all, this isn't a bad book by any stretch of the imagination. Furthermore, if you can get it free, then it really is an entertaining way to spend an hour. But it's not that great. It's just not. This would have been better for being stretched out longer, I think. Recommended for: um, bored urban fantasy romance fans, I guess?
