Bought this book as a part of my annual Dune-fix. With the previous two novels Paul of Dune & The winds of Dune I recovered some of my dissapointment that were the sequels to Frank Herberts Chapterhouse of Dune (based upon a 30 page synopsis named Dune 7 left by Frank).

Now the Sisterhood is actually a step back to the early days of the Duneiverse but after the first trilogy as written by Brian & Kevin. Those books did contain some excellent moments. SoD actually is the start of a trilogy in which the various groups Bene Gesserit, the Navigator-guild, SUK doctors & CHOAM and such will be seen at the beginning of their existance.
The tale has as a guiding thread the Butlerian uprising against anything that has to do with thinking machines or anything the leader of the group considers a crime against humanity. It is practiced with a fanatism bordering on a religious zeal, and is a serious treat to society and its dependance on machines and technology.

Some of the characters of this book are chosen due to some sort or familiarity in the Dune-iverse. Which does reek of some cheap choices but commercialy it is a sound choice.

A well written book that does leave a taste for more in this series.
