I saw the movie about Temple Grandin and was so impressed by her story and her work. What she has accomplished so far in her life while trying to deal with autism is beyond astounding. This book takes you beyond the movie. Temple shares her insights into animal and people behavior both normal (her word) and autistic. This is a fascinating journey into the mind of an autistic woman who is able to rise above her own challenge and who seeks to help both animals and humans be better people. She helps us to see beyond the outside and try to look into the inside to better understanding. She is also an extremely smart scientist and researcher who is also compassionate--which doesn't always go together. I listened to this book on cd and the reader was perfectly picked--I had to look at the cover to see that it wasn't Temple Grandin herself reading. This is an excellent book, not depressing at all considering the subject. Just the opposite--it makes you want to be a better human being.

Elisabeth P. There are more people with autism than we realize because they usually look normal, just act different. It's nice that autism is getting some positive light and helping people learn more about it.
