Contrary to the description provided on goodreads, I was sceptical was to whether this was always the same dystopia or always the same narrator. Sometimes I looked for the links, sometimes I just immersed myself in whatever version of dystopia was put before me. These stories are simultaneously bleak and optimistic. They are quite often humourous and always fascinating. I am now quite looking forward to reading What the Family Needed, and hope that Amsterdam becomes a regular fixture in Australian literature.
