** spoiler alert ** I struggled with whether to give this book a two-star rating or a three, but as I sat down to write this review, I realized it just didn't deserve a three. There were some fundamental issues that I just couldn't ignore, like why, if Talon has been trying to get Riley pregnant for a year (he said he removed her birth control implant a year ago), why is he suddenly asking if she wants to have his kid? He clearly had no guilt about drugging her to hide what he was doing, so the it seems the only reason he brings it up is because it fit the plot for Riley to know it was him that had been giving her the fertility drugs.

Then there was Jack, Riley's boss, who's supposed to know everything there is to know about everything. The guy who's been around for nearly 1000 years and is in charge of several werewolves, and also sees their private medical records, and he doesn't know that weres have chips implanted to prevent conception? Really? Having him say that he never cared enough to ask before was not enough to get passed the very "As you DON"T know, Bob" dialogue there. I actually cringed.

I should probably confess that while I love Urban Fantasy, I'm not so much a fan of vampires (just a bit worn out on them, I'm afraid), and I like werewolves even less. That probably didn't help my overall perception.

On the plus side, I didn't hate Riley and the world-building was good.
