really liked it

This was my first shot at reading Atwood. I kind of slogged through much of this book (and I was more than a little put off by the child pornography bits), but in the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. The last 100 pages or so made the tedious beginning and midsection worthwhile. As the pieces finally fell into place, I actually found my heartbeat quickening. There are more than a few scenes from this book that I don't see myself forgetting any time soon. A shocking and vile plot that is actually rendered quite beautifully at times. Reminded me of an impressionistic painting. Devastating.
