The three stars are entirely for the brilliant premise.

In this alternate history mystery, the Jews never got Israel in 1948. Instead they settled for an island off the coast of Alaska where they become the "frozen chosen" until their lease expires in 2008. Meanwhile, a murder brings a hard boiled policeman to explore this imagined society.

Basically, it's like a cheap David Baldacci book (he does mysteries right) except it's in this wonderful world that doesn't exist but could have.

Is it worth a read? I think I'm just a sucker for the cover, but I keep getting drawn to the book at the store.

Russell I don't know if I want to recommend this. It's basically the opposite of that book "Fatherland".

I love the idea of alternate history but it usually sucks. That being said, this is a great alt history book (which isn't saying much).

So, take your chances.
