really liked it
Read from January 23 to 28, 2012 — I own a copy , read count: 1

Reads a bit like a 'Boys Own' Adventure! There have been some concerns about the validity of some of the claims made in the book (espeically timings of key events & descriptions of places) but, while if true, these are damaging to the memory of the survivors and victims, they do not detract from the fact that it is a riveting read; just that, perhaps, it should be filed under fiction.

Personally, I choose to accept Mr Aveys claims, not least because I can see no reason why a 92 year old survivor would make this up! That and the fact that the BBC, amongst others, support him and you have to trust someone some of the time. Besides, just because most right thinking individuals would be trying to do just the exact opposite of Mr Avey, that doesn't mean that it never happened, just that he might not have been in his right mind at the time.
