The Hanging Shed is set in post-WWII Glasgow and area. Douglas Brodie is home from the war, but is feeling lost and aimless in London. When his childhood friend calls from a Scottish prison, he goes to visit. He finds his friend Hugh Donovan set to be hanged for the murder of a young boy. Brodie teams up with Donovan's advocate Sam Campbell to revisit the shoddy case against his friend. As Brodie digs deeper into the case against his friend, he uncovers more questions than answers.

The mystery reminded me a bit of John Buchan and bit of Ian Rankin. We have a flawed hero who is nevertheless ready to uphold morality and take on the really bad guys. An exciting and fun read.
