You mom had a life before you, without you, separate from you. She had thoughts, dreams, and secrets that were distinct from her role as your mom.

This is what a family comes to realize as their mom (wife/aunt/etc), a 69-year-old woman from a tiny Korean village, goes missing during a visit to Seoul. This is a fascinating story of modern Korea, and how much life, and the role of women, has changed there in just one generation.

This book was beautifully written, and I can only hope that more of the author's books are translated to English as well.
