really liked it

Have read a few Chabon short stories in the New Yorker and liked them, so thought A Model World would be lead me deeper into his work. Divided in two parts, the eleven short stories evoke all sorts of people people trying to make real worlds out of their model conceptions of what that might be. Especially liked Part II (The Lost World) which focuses on the Shapiro family, especially young Nathan, who finds himself growing up from the inside as his family falls apart and reforms in new ways. Part I (A Model World) is more diverse in setting, character and theme, but all protagonists seek meaning in a world where that's hard to find.
Really like Chabon!
