ok, i kinda feel like a dick for not really liking this book. i feel like, winter's night and cosmicomics both, start off very very good but the lose steam about halfway through and kinda Calvino shits his boner. it's not like the post-modernist trickery of Barth in Funhouse, rather it just all seemed kinda flimsy the longer the gag rolled on. honestly, if Calvino had just a handful of short stories he wished to string together loosely with a literary joke, then fine. but it doesn't seem as though that's what he was trying to do, though it is pretty much what it felt like. not sure what else to say. i have a couple more of his books and fully intend on approaching them with a clear mind and open attitude in hopes of him showing me a fractal i was missing.
