really liked it
bookshelves: livres-en-français, unfinished

This was a book assigned for class and, because I read so slowly, I didn't have time to finish it before we moved onto the next. However, I really enjoyed what I read! On the level of language, it was easy to understand and therefor very easy to get involved in the story.

Maalouf weaves together several different "sources" for the narrative as he contemplates how history is made and the affect of orality on cultural story telling. It is also fun to see the way Maalouf uses the notion of intrigue to ponder cultural myths.

I really enjoyed reading this book--I hope to finish it at a later date. It would book to pick up if you are looking for a fun in order to practice your French.
