Taran is a young teen, who is working as an Assistant Pig-Keeper, but dreams of being a hero. Assistant Pig-Keeper may seem like a lowly job, but is made less so since Henwen is an orracular pig. And when the enemy comes to either steal, or kill, Henwen the pig for the knowledge that she has, Taran begins an adventure to save her, and the entire realm of humans, from the evil horned king.

It's been a long while since I have read this book. It was as good as I remember, maybe even more so. I quite enjoyed the story, and am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I haven't actually ever finished the series, though I can't say quite why.
