Was hooked with the first book in this series and this book, though it tears at the heart strings, has been the high point thus far for me.
The series is trying hard to show how natural the journey to the dark/sith side can be. It's a journey that started with Vergere's comment during the New Jedi Order (NJO) series--paraphrasing, there is no dark or light side just one force.
The fine line that the authors have been walking trying to show how a bright, talented and good hearted person (Jacen) can transform into a Sith Lord has been forced at times, but is handled very well in this book.
How is peace achieved? How is happiness achieved? I have totally bought into the underlying message that good or evil is all a point of view. It's very simpleminded to judge anyone to be good or evil. Life and people are not that simple. I applaud the authors, especially Karen Traviss for trying to show this in all the characters depicted in this novel.
