When Thea sees Will, she is immediately captivated by him. Shortly after having sex. Will is a year ahead Thea, so while he’s off at college, Thea is still in high school, but someone their relationships weathers it well. Then Thea realizes that she is pregnant. The original plan is for Thea to have an abortion, and but when the time comes, she can’t go through it and decides to keep the baby. Will reluctantly agrees and the two get married. Once the baby comes their whole lives change, and only time will tell if Thea and Will’s relationship can weather this too.

This novel was beautifully written. Greenman does a wonderful job of navigating the topsy turvy indecisiveness that come with teen pregnancy. I honestly think this novel does a better job, than 16 & Pregnant or Teen Mom, to show the world of teen pregnancy. Greenman carefully and gracefully of showing the miracle of giving live, but she also cautions readers with how hard it is to truly be responsible for someone’s LIFE. Thea has the unfortunate task of growing up, when she is a child, and of realizing that being a parent means the world does not revolve around you, and although you’re a teen mom, the emphasis is not teen (as many of the teens on the MTV reality shows fail to realize), but on mom. This novel promotes talks for frank discussions about sex, contraception, and teen pregnancy.
