Hm, I guess I never reviewed this. I did read it, probably a year ago. I must have forgotten about it, as it wasn't very good/funny. The writing is about a 5th grade level, which is fine, really, it's Ellen DeGeneres, I wasn't expecting masterful literary stylings. The problem is it isn't funny. And I think Ellen is a truly funny person, I enjoy watching her be funny. Outloud. In book form, it just doesn't work. This might work as an audiobook, of her reading it, but even then I have my doubts. The book just kind of rambles aimlessly, goes nowhere, and is about as deep as a kiddie pool. The ironic thing is... nothing is funny about this.

Shannon Note: in a review of a Chuck Palahnuik book (Rant) I said it was as deep as a kiddie pool (filled with pee). This is also like a kiddie pool, but not filled with pee, which is to say it's far less disgusting. Just clarifying.

Andrew I'm currently listening to it as an audiobook. I'm enjoying it. A lot of her humor is in her dry delivery, though even that it works better when she's doing stand up...I mean, I can tell she's reading this from a book. But it's a nice thing to listen to on my commute right now, especially after reading some pretty heavy stuff.

Andrew Note: I was very unhappy with Rant.
