Definitely not as good as Eon. This book is much weaker in the character development and there's a lot that the reader is simply told and expected to believe, without any actual reason given for the reader to do so. Way too much telling rather than showing. It also feels very much throughout the book that Goodman wasn't really sure where the story was going -- pages would be spent on yet another situation in which one or more characters would get melodramatic and weird and generally just cause problems for both the other characters and the general flow of the plot. By the time the climax of the story showed up I didn't find myself caring about any of the characters anymore except Dela.

Despite my problems with it, it's still a good closing note on Eon. I just wish it had been a little shorter. Eon was so exciting I stayed up all night to finish it, whereas I found myself putting off picking up Eona.
