Part I of this story, though based on actual events, was difficult to read. It was a tad mundane and depressing. And although I found the story to be inspiring and incredibly interesting, I found myself stalling to pick it up again. After completing the first part of the book (the part based on the trip itself), I was pleasantly surprised by Part II of the book. It was a relief to have the story pick up. This is a fascinating and well-written story of family, courage, spirit, and persistence.
I won't review the story as it would provide spoilers.
