** spoiler alert **
I don't even know what to say right now. I just finished reading this book and am a blubbering mess. It's possible that I've gone through almost every emotion while reading this.
My heart is broken.
This is one "tell" that I have that means I really liked a book. If I cry, which I'm still doing, you're basically getting and A+. I'm not going over the synopsis, I'd just be retyping what is already written.
Everyone has their own opinion of what makes a good book, but I think most of us would agree that characters that you become invested in is high on the list. Anna, so young and naive. You just ache for her to really live, to experience things that every teenager does eventually. You want her to make a difference in the life of the bad boy, Abel. That's kind of a double edged sword, because she does and she doesn't.
Don't expect you know everything. Expect to be surprised.
Don't expect all rainbows. Expect to be outraged.
Don't expect it to be easy. Expect to be challenged.
The writing is seamless and draws the reader in, begging for more. The character could be you or me. Love isn't always a splendid thing, it's rough and it hurts. Yet sometimes it does conquer all. Sure, it's cliche, but it works here.
It also makes you wonder, what exactly is a happy ending?
