Even with the sixth novel in this series, the author manages to keep the plot original and surprising. While the fast-paced story is comparatively tough in the erotic scenes as well as in the action sequences, the author manages to keep the tension high and the reader glued to the pages. While we have the obligatory, but really hot finding-a-lifemate story, more of the dark secrets of the Brethren society are revealed and the fight between Brethren and Darkyn continues.

What I love about the Darkyn series is the original and complex background story, while the romance part is not the only focus as with so many other publications in this genre. While those inevitably get boring after the umpteenth vampire-meets-lifemate variation, the Darkyn novels still fascinate and entertain on a high level.
