The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King
Tracey's review
I didn't think I was going to like this book. I'd heard it was very different from all of King's other novels and, while I haven't read them all, I LIKE those other novels. It WAS a very different type of story--a fantasy--but I still love it.
It was written in a very conversational tone (story being told by an anonymous narrator with short chapters--sometimes just a paragraph) and lots of jumping back and forth between characters. It was so fast that I never got anxious to hurry up and get back to a particular storyline (as I'm apt to do with multiple storyline novels), because I knew I'd be there shortly.
An interesting note. While I noticed that the bad guy--Flagg--had the same name as in The Stand, I hadn't actually considered that it could be the same person until I read the rumor on the internet. Apparently he shows up in the Dark Tower series as well. Perhaps that's what I should read next....
