*reread/Listened to the book again 09/18/12 I found book much better when I listened to it than when I read it..and I adjusted my stars to a hard 4 star read. With this in mind I would like to add a few "My Thoughts": I thought Anita's coming to terms with Cin was very well done and shows that Anita is finally maturing. Sometime Anita's angst with herself is a bit much but I am hoping now that she is becoming more accepting of herself that these flashes of angst will be less. I am so happy they finally smacked Asher...again the angst from him was becoming too much. Anita's relationship with the tactical part of the police was refreshing as was the addition of Bryce the new marshall. I look forward to learning more about him coming up. I really liked that LKH added a purely Gay guy to the storyline. All in all I like the book much better than second time through

Was hoping for me. Nothing jumped out and said woah..great book.

Description:

When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more…

But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them

My Thoughts:

I should preface this as saying I am a huge Anita Blake fan. I adore the series, that being said I admit to being disappointed in the last couple books. I was hoping LKH would be back on track with this book but there was just nothing new in it. Yes we were back with her sweeties...which I love. But the whole book was something we have read before through out the series. Yes, the police don't like her cause she sleeps with monsters...so lack of trust. We knew this. Anita is feeling the pressure of having too many men....again we knew this. Anita is questioning what comes first her lovers or her job...again we have heard this before. Asher is whining...again..nothing new there. Rogue vamps wanting to be free of a master's leash..again not a new story line. Over all a rehash of everything we have seen in the series. I can't really even say this was a vehicle for the plot because we didn't really accomplish anything. Also, we gained no extra knowledge of any of the main characters...so really what was the point of the book?

I gave the book a soft 3 stars the extra star is because I do love Anita Blake and hope LHK does something in the next book. With the prices of ebooks from publishers...something needs to happen or I will find another book to spend my 13.00 on...

Duchess Nicole Aww, not so great, huh? I need to get caught up. I'm a couple of books behind in this series.

t'irla ~The Bookslayer~ t'irla's Talk Book Blog Ya Im disappointed...but it was better than Hit List IMO

Paris (kerbytejas) you were way too kind to this book - I also am a die hard Anita fan and this book was crap, I gave it only one star... its time for the series to end or for Ms Hamilton to start writing quality stories again. For me, this was one of the worst reads, with the exception of the novella "Beauty" not sure when I will learn I should quit reading Anita books
