This author always has the most complicated plots imaginable. The one goes from London where eight pairs of shoes are found outside of HIghgate Cemetery with the feet still in them to the Siberian wilderness where stories of vampires still dictate how people live. All of this becomes Commissaire Adamsberg challenge aided by Danglard and others in his squad. Vargas's books demand the reader's attention with the language and settings generally unfamiliar. In the end you find you have leaarned a lot and the intrigue is ongoing.
