Dear Goodreads,

I am applying for the position of Advertising Sales Director and I enclose a copy of my resume. I have no previous experience in advertising or sales, but I hope you will view my qualifications from a broader perspective.

Goodreads, I understand Internet addiction. I know what it's like to get up at three in the morning because you can't sleep and your life is falling apart and how you log on to a useless shitty social networking site because you're too stressed out and brain-dead to be able to think of something more positive to do.

The rest of this review is available elsewhere (the location cannot be given for Goodreads policy reasons)

notgettingenough Oh, well done.

Manny So did I get the job?

notgettingenough I'd hire you.

Manny I'm willing to start at the bottom and work my way up. I was born to do this.

Manny I think that's the wrong way to look at it. My skills in computational linguistics would also be useful. I would be able to write scripts that automatically matched the porn site to the review, and increase their revenue - how many of the other candidates will be able to offer that? Goodreads better snap me up before I go to Facebook.

MJ Nicholls It's like you see into my soul.

message 8: by Mariel (new)

Mariel I would hire Manny. Sorry, Ian. But Manny understands me.

Manny You guys are so nice. I wish I could work for all of you.

message 6: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Now that Amazon has bought GR, do you still want to apply for the position?

Manny I'm not proud. I just want to be paid 50% more.

Cecily Ha ha. Good luck with that! Without it, you might want to change your name, e.g. to Notgettingenough (though I somehow feel that name and Amazon may not be a good match)!

Manny Amazon, if you are listening, I am willing, no, delighted to sell myself for a suitable price. Contact me and we will discuss terms. My qualifications speak for themselves.

message 2: by Alfaniel (new) - added it

Alfaniel Aldavan Actually, today is the day. Be it known as one of those days after the review rules changes. GoodReads needs an Advertising Director (sales or not).

I don't think you need previous experience, you only need to fix the mess.

Manny I can't believe it, they still haven't got back to me! Don't believe all this stuff they try to sell you about making the trains run on time.
