One thing before reading this, one must know, this book is meant for young adult reader, so one cannot expect this book to be lengthy and in depth book like Lord of the Rings of Harry Potter. The book is short read and meant to make one think.

The Goblin King is technically a villain in the beginning, because he is persisting to trick Kate in a marriage, however later he does make a bargain to save her sister in exchange she marry him. So in a way that makes him a somewhat of a hero. Certainly not your prince charming, but not horrid man.

Also before you start thinking how horrid it is for Marak to trick Kate into a marriage, you also have to look at the time frame she in. Either way she goes, she would either end up marrying the Goblin King or she would have been placed in arranged marriage by her guardians, which an example was already been made with her sister.

The book is great for an afternoon read of just to keep in your bag to carry and read now then when you have time. Books like these are easy on the mind and don;t take a lot of time comprehend what is going on.
