HarperCollins publishes this as the first book in the Narnia series. That bothers me. Yes, it comes first in the chronology of the books -- it lays out how Aslan created the world, and how the witch came to inhabit it, and who the first king and queen were, and how -- at the very end -- the wardrobe was made. But Lewis didn't write it first and I don't think it serves the story or the reader well to read it first. Read it as he wrote it: #6.

Andrea I quite agree! I have a couple of editions of the Narnia collections, including the mis-ordered Harper set. I changed the order of THAT set so that it starts properly with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Which book is your favorite in the series, Molly? Mine is Dawn Treader.
