What if the hottest guy in the world was hiding a nameless evil, and all he wanted was you?
At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey’s friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren’t Neferet’s secrets any longer. But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses. Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn’t want to hear and truths she can’t face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa’s Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well – they’ve even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home – but are they really as friendly as they seem? On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Erik, but she can’t stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet’s sinister influence at all costs.
Okay, so Hunted was amazing. I'm very sad to say Zoey's problems didn't end with Untamed. Now Kalona, the gorgeous fallen angel who claims Zoey is A-ya, the Cherokee maiden created to love him- and then destroy him, has risen from the earth. The passion between Z and Kalona is tense and hawt. I really loved Heath in this one, actually, and I'm not really Team Heath. I had mixed feelings about Stark. I mean, sometimes he was Super Sexy Warrior Guy, and sometimes he was Super Jerk Guy. But I'm glad he ***** his *******'s **** to her. I wasn't expecting that.
I actually kind of liked Damien in this one (and if you read my previous reviews you'd know that I'm a Damien hater) because he wasn't such a Zoey Stalker. I think the Casts finally gave Zoey some breathing room from Damien, Jack, and the Twins. Not that they aren't amazing friends. Maybe... they're TOO amazing? Heh.
I really, really hated Neferet. She keeps going crazier and crazier. I like to think one day Nyx is just gonna zap those affinities from her, but since she "never takes away a gift" that's probably not gonna happen. I actually kind of liked Kalona- or maybe it was just my OHMIGOD, A HOT GUY teen girl radar going off. I also really loved the story and once again, how smoothly and effortlessly it flowed.
I really, hated the ending. Not because it was bad- I loved the story's conclusion. But because of the little afterward part. That wasn't needed at all. The last chapter was a satisfying, heartbreaking conclusion. No need to ruin it with the "Afterward"
