One of my favorites to date albeit for personal reasons. Our stories are similar but in reverse. She is a Seattle native who moves away and moves back to fully embrace who she is, where she is from and all the mess and chaos that comes from having family within driving (or ferry) distance. She also captures that it's like to mother in Northeast Seattle, the epicenter of attachment parenting, breastfeed-or-die-of-shame belief systems, wooden-toys only please -- and the co-op preschool moms. In short, mothering in this environment is and was intense and Claire captures this with alarming accuracy.

Mostly, I love this book for its honesty and the beautiful depictions of Seattle. Our first child was born there and I built a life there from complete scratch. The Northwest changed me in ways I am still processing.

And of course if you do yoga, this book is a real treat!
