Ah, a really good read at last! This is the story of a young woman named Katey and her friends in the late 1930s in New York. The dialogue and attitudes seem a bit odd at first until the reader clues into the fact that both were probably very true to their time. The first-time author, a Manhattan investment banker, seems to be a bit of a savant in art of creating character and atmosphere as well as writing from a woman's point of view. And the language is quite lovely at times. Highly recommended.
