I liked the first book in this series, The Secret Adversary; in fact, it was a lot better than I expected after seeing the series on tv. But this second book was as silly and shallow as the tv series leads one to expect. I've been reading the Agatha Christie books in order according to three groups: Miss Marple, Poirot, and all the rest. I'm just about finished the first two groups other than some short stories and now I'm tackling the third group. This book was an early book and is interesting because it's easy to see how Agatha Christie's writing developed, and yet there are so many characters and themes in early books that are used in a more mature way latter on. I don't know if I said that well, but if you are reading through all of Christie's books too, then don't skip this one because it's silly (I'm sure you wouldn't), because you will recognize features from it latter on which makes these books as a group all the more interesting and personal.
