No words really to describe the awesome power of Morrison's story and prose. This novel knocked me back. Off my feet. I re-read it as soon as I finished it. Unlike any other novel that exists. Morrison is truly the best American novelist. A former slave who killed her baby girl to keep her from slavery is now haunted by the child's ghost, in the form of the woman she would now be had she lived. Mesmerizing, sad, powerful.
