William H. Armstrong's, Sounder is an amazing book. It is an inspiring story about a boy and his dog.

This story seems like it is set in the country and in older times. To me this book moved very slowly.

The characters in Sounder's names are not told. They were mentioned by the boy, the father, the mother, and his brother and sisters. The only character who has a name is Sounder, their dog.

At the beginning of the story the boy's father was taken to jail. When the Sounder goes to help the father, he is shot in the face and hurt horribly. For a long time Sounder lay down under the deck unable to see from the darkness.

I recommend this book to people who like suspence. Ages older than 10. I hope I can soon read another book writen by William H. Armstrong.
