This book followed several elderly people from England in their journey to a new life in India. For various reasons, each of the people left England to move into a retirement home in India. They find that India changes them in ways they didn't expect. The residents of the Marigold Hotel get lessons in love, hope and life.

The characters were well written. The book was well written.
Although this wasn't a book that I couldn't put down, it also wasn't a book that I found myself skimming pages in the attempt to get through it. It was a pleasant read and I look forward to watching the movie that will soon be out.
