Sophie Kinsella is bloody brilliant! I'm a big fan and I've read all of her books, even those written as Madeline Wickham. She was one of my first favorite non-paranormal writers and I always have such a good time reading her books. I mean like laughing out loud, snorting, tears coming out of my eyes because it is so funny kind of good time. This book was no different. But for being so funny there is also always the right amount of emotion and conflict and a little bit of a mystery thrown in to keep me glued to the pages.

Poppy just lost her engagement ring during lunch at a hotel. Then she had her cell phone stolen but her luck is turning up when she passes by a trash bin and she sees a phone! Well if someone just threw it away then it's okay to take it right? She can give the number to all the hotel staff and cleanup crew so if they find her ring they can call her. Sam Roxton calls the phone and tells her it belongs to his PA that just quit and he needs it back. She helps him out by stopping a very important business man from leaving before Sam gets there. Since Poppy just saved Sam's butt he agrees to let her keep the phone a couple days until she finds her ring, since she already gave the number out to all the hotel staff. Her fiance, Magnus, gave her a precious family heirloom and she doesn't want his parents to find out she lost it. She promises she will forward all his text messages.

What happens when you forward someone's messages? Well you can't help but read them right? LOL I admit it! I found a phone once and read everything in it. hehe So as Poppy is keeping up with forwarding Sam's emails she can't help but be curious about all the back story behind them and she ends up reading everything in the phone. She begins to get to know Sam in a way through the email and test messages. But there is definitely more to him than those messages can show. Poppy thinks he doesn't reply enough, and that he replies too briefly and rudely. When Poppy meets up with Sam she asks if she can reply to a few emails because it is driving her crazy that he is not replying. She ends up replying to all of them and then even sending out extra ones that go to his entire office that she says Sam wrote. LMAO The emails are hilarious. I started snorting.

Sam is of course pissed off. She tells him he's too stiff and mean. Well then Sam reads all her texts and emails and says she is too nice. She needs to stand up for herself. Every message is worded like oh can you please do this for me thanks so much but if you can't it's okay I'm so sorry xxxxxxxx kisses. Sam says she should be direct. Sam wants her to confront her future in-laws which have been making her feel like inferior. They begin to form a friendship through their text messages and give each other new perspectives on the problems they are dealing with. I loved Sam! At first he does seem stiff and rude but as we get to know him he turns out to be such a sweet and loyal guy.

Sam also has a business scandal about to burst and a message Poppy received on the phone may be the answer to saving Sam's boss and the company he works at. Poppy is also receiving some devastating text messages about Magnus. Poppy does everything to help Sam and can't stop thinking about what will happen when she returns the phone and he is no longer in her life? Poppy has begun to count on texting Sam for advice. I loved the writing style. All the emails and text messages were so hilarious. I also loved that the book included footnotes. Little funny thoughts thrown in to give some more back story and extra laughs. I love footnotes but I've only seen them in Lisa Lutz's Spellman Files series. Sophie Kinsella always has a great way of showing all the thoughts of her characters. You know when ramble on in your head and try to excuse your actions or talk yourself into something? Those are some of my favorite parts of her writing. I always love I had a fabulous time reading it and as always will be anxiously awaiting the next book by Sophie Kinsella.

"I thought you might like to do a Fun Run."
"You did."
"Yes. I did." My voice is a little husky with nerves. "I mean...they're fun! So I thought I'd reply. Just to save you time."
"You wrote an email and signed it as me?" He sounds thunderous.
"I was trying to help!" I say hurriedly. "I knew you didn't have time, and they kept asking you, and I thought-"
"The e-card was you, too, I take it?" He shuts his eyes briefly. "Jesus. Is there anything else you've been meddling in?"
"OK, I had this...this other idea,"

"My hand keeps automatically reaching for my phone in its usual place in my pocket. Every instinct in me wants to text someone OMG, I've lost my phone! but how can I do that without a bloody phone?"

"We're playing Scrabble. It's a nightmare."
"Scrabble?" He sounds surprised. "Scrabble's great."
"Not when you're playing with a family of geniuses, it's not. They all put words like 'iridiums'. And I put 'pig'."
