Am happy to see what kinds of trouble Maureen gets up to in this second book of the "Garnethill" trilogy...the first three chapters are PROMISING!
I think Mina excels at leaving out key plot points and then forcing us to piece together what happened in between the chapters. The inimitable Maureen does something big close to the end that is only referenced obliquely....and we get to feel a kinship with her...we share a secret. Considering that these books deal with the fallout of incest, a terrible secret, I think that device is pretty brilliant.
