Start with good intentions based on faulty research, add in government programs and pressure, and some rogues sprinkled throughout government and private industry, then bake with a coating of indifferent or nonexistent oversight and what do you get? The housing bubble/ economic meltdown of 2008.

This book is a clearly-written account of why 2008 happened, and few are left unscathed. There are a handful of people who tried to prevent it, but clearly the juggernaut was rolling over everyone.

If you want a straightforward and clear account of why this happened, even if you aren't an economics maven, this is the book to read.
