Metamorphosis is the reason I gave this book 3 stars, it was a really interesting concept beginning with humour and ending with sadness. It is an interesting way to look at how a family might cope with the sudden extreme illness or disfigurement of a key member. On a small, picky and un-important note - I would have assumed the insect had eaten my brother, not morphed from him.
The other stories were quite hard to swallow, most of them just lasting for pages without actually seeming to move forward at all. The Burrow was interesting and fairly disturbing but perhaps a few pages too long.
I had already read In the Penal Settlement and enjoyed it - it was quite scary.
