I don't know what I expected, but this was a lot different from it.

It's essentially a coming of age story about a boy growing up in a village in London. He deals with being bullied at school, his sister moving off to college, and dealing with the strain put on his parents' marriage in the form of his father's mistress that finally makes them divorce. I found it difficult to get past the English slang, but after easing into it, I barely noticed.
