I picked this up in the bargain section of Barnes and Noble because one of the blurbs on the back compared this to a grown-up Harriet the Spy. Eh, maybe sort of, but I wouldn't have made the comparison myself. I did enjoy the characters quite a bit, especially the younger sister Rae. I could have done without the foreshadowing of Rae's disappearance (which is mentioned so early that I don't think mentioning it here is going to ruin the surprise for anyone). It seems to be a set-up for a series, and I liked it enough to read another if that turns out to be the case.
