it was amazing
bookshelves: james, fiction

Henry James can tell a story, no doubt about that. This one tells about people and places near Boston and Cambridge. There is the controversy about whether Ms. Birdseye is based on Ms. Peabody. There is a picture drawn by HJ of how he saw the struggle for womens' rights. There is psychological study of the characters. Every few pages there is a classic sentence to puzzle over and enjoy. There a lots of reasons to read this book.
