A lot of people clearly love this book and for the life of me I cannot understand why. It literally put me to sleep multiple times while reading it. The narrative would have us believe that Frederica has been taking care of her siblings for years, but she's unable to manage even one situation presented in the book on her own. Every scrape or situation has her turning to her dear cousin the Marquis, aka Alverstroke. He says he was bored before he met Frederica but I imagine what he takes for amusement in this story would be aggravation and annoyance for anyone else. Besides some witty quips here and there I'm not at all sure what this book has to recommend itself.
