This is a really good take on what's to come in how we use the web. The main thing I took from his argument was that we'll become increasingly dependent on data itself and become much less dependent on data devices. We'll structure our lives around ubiquitous web software and not around desktop or mobile hardware. Google Docs, Zoho, 37signals, MobileMe, AdobeAir, Brightcove, will all serve up our info anywhere we go. So if I store, securely, my files online, my contacts and calendars online, my work projects online, my photos online, then it won't hurt so bad if I lose my cell phone or if my laptop gets stolen or if my computer crashes -- my data is still intact up in my web accounts, and I'll easily access it from a different machine.
