it was amazing

I love his other 2 books, but this went above and beyond. It reminded me of my (probably) all-time favorite, Everything is Illuminated, in that the protagonst's foreign-born grandparents and family history directly influenced who she/he became (and not just physically, you know?). I think it's part of the human condition to look back at your childhood and what came even before that to help feel satisfied with your identity. The Detroit riot part was really interesting, as I know nothing about that little segment of history, and the same goes for the history of Greece tht was covered. Apparently today I'm at odds with getting my thoughts properly typed up, but read this book. It's a fantastic story of family, self-discovery, and ugh... coming of age? That's like the worst back-of-a-book-blurb ever.
