it was amazing

Even though I read it a long while ago I had to add this to my favourites shelf as I loved this book.

Lydia and Chang - so strong and independent individually; better but vulnerable together - I loved the culture clash at the centre of the novel, which is eroded by the romantic connection between them. The outside influences as the young couple head into a dangerous world of colonial powers, Chinese nationalists and local gangs build an intricate view of a world that probably no longer exists.

A great read for adults or YA fans I would say if you like a historical slant to your reading.
