Dawkins deserves credit for his analysis of the damage wrought in religion's name. But he is as tunnel visioned, and at times as misguided, as the fundamentalist belief systems he disparages. A fundamentalist atheist.

Zaki do you consider Christopher Hitchens a fundamentalist atheist as well?

Orna Ross Hitchens is - was - a better writer - a deliberate agent provocoteur. e.g. In his subtitle, 'Why Religion Poisons Everything'... Well of course it doesn't, not EVERYTHING (it is a good, as well as bad, influence in the world). And 'God' is a more multi-layered concept than either of these commentators want to allow. BUT... I'm very glad they are there with their thought-provoking arguments -- especially Hitchens who is also witty and a fabulous stylist. I don't find answers to anything in writers like these -- but I do use them to find the right questions to ask.
