A new prion disease mimics FFI but spreads rapidly and widely, creating a world of near-zombies, awake 24 hours/day and slowly losing their minds. I was interested in the premise, and the suspenseful unfolding of the plot kept me reading. I was not particularly attached to any of the characters, though, and found the writing often overdone. Not a great book, but I enjoyed it overall.
